Illustration and Visual Narative [ PROJECT 3 ]

In this final project, we have to make a comic/webtoon with "Isekai" theme. Im not really into japanese comic isekai theme (i prefer shounen or seinen) since it sometimes have too much fanservice but i've been reading isekai themed Manhwa lately.

i want to make out the concept first, I want to make something supernatural with asian aesthetic like Onmyoji but the story concept is like spirited away or inuyasha so here's my idea so far

after given feedback, i provided more sketches for the characters along with Background settings they are in, My inspirations are mostly ancient/old china like Kung-Fu panda and Liyue from Genshin impact. i also added the pages sketch, be warned... it was really rough

I want to make a webtoon that has a rough sketchy style but still colorful like "Heart of Gold" but my brush flopped because of the canvas size. There are some skips since im trying to put it only into 10 pages. I draw all of them in Medibang since i only use CSP or photoshop for finishing or their advanced brushes and later animate it in After effects.

 

Reflection

well, i had fun doing it and experimenting it but i have 0 knowledge of panelling but i have fun with making their sketchpage and experimenting on the color mood change i analyze from heart of gold. I kinda think that i shouldn't use that brush again since the quality drops because of it and next time, i use my usual sketching brush which is cleaner. I actually talked and ask for adviced to Ma_R0EN and study her small comic.
